Mario
Kart is the first kart racing game that spawned all the
other games, but in my opinion it is still the best.
Super
Circuit has more in common with the SNES version when it
comes to the control scheme and level layouts. They are
very easy to use and makes controlling your kart a breeze.
A new feature to the Mario Kart series is the collecting
coins spread out around the race track, which increases
your total speed. So going out of your way to grab a few
extra coins might be useful towards the end of the race,
adding a new level of strategy to this already great formula.
The
graphics are great for a handheld; it uses rotation technology
similar to the SNES to create strikingly 3D appearance.
It looks a lot better than the Super Nintendo one with the
great character images and fluid animations. This has to
be one of the best looking handheld games I've ever seen.
There
are a lot of levels in this game, since it includes over
20 original tracks. You can even unlock the ones from the
SNES version, bringing the total to around 40 race tracks.
For
multiplayer, you can play the race mode with only one game
pak, however the levels available in this selection are
extremely limited. If your friends also have the game though,
you can race in any levels you have unlocked, plus you can
face off in the entertaining battle mode.
This
is easily one of the best GBA games released so far, and
will remain a classic for a long time to come. If you are
looking for a great handheld racing game, you've found it.
