Phantasy Star Online: Episode I & II
Well let's start off by saying wow. The game isn’t really that new. Things that they have done with it though, makes it like a new game. 1. I actually find it enjoyable to play offline now with the things like multiplayer, Battle and C mode. Offline is a lot more fun, whereas in Ver. 1 and 2 playing it to me was like pulling teeth. The new Pioneer for Episode 2 is amazing; they did little things to make it more enjoyable. There are things like walking into the items area, yet coming out in an opposite door, so you can go in both directions. Little things like that I enjoy for some reason.

With the online play I find it to be just about the same being that most of us online are still in Episode one because 2 is too hard. Yes for some of you who had the question you can go into Episode 2 right away, but it is hard. Also I see the game as being more difficult this time around. It may just be me. They lack of people with Keyboards kind of hinders the experience when interacting with other players. Although I am sure more will come along more, it is nice to bump into familiar faces while playing.

The Lobby to me is just amazing. I can't tell you how much I like the new design. It totally took what I had a mental image of and gave it a 180. The new lobby antics are the best, Clan leaders and members rejoice; not only can you sit in a chair but there are more than just your normal F keys. Every letter does something this time around. I found the best thing to do in the lobby is act out your actions while talking, giving it a more realistic type of interaction, like making him do a laugh action when typing “LOL”, or Bowing when you speak to a lady or clan leader. You can also salute and kneel, which is cool for clans, it almost makes me want to join one. Having a very organized one would be nice like making a certain group wear the white and red outfits, while the other side where white and blue, making them line up behind one another while the clan leader sits in a chair at the head of the group, his two guards on the side standing next to him. While people cheer and or salute being that he can sit at the top of the stairs like he's looking down over his clan or empire. It's really nice and much more enjoyable then the last. They have a small type of message board function that lets you leave message for others.

With the online interaction comes a lot more personal things. You can have an answering machine while you are in a boss fight or for anything at all. You can also block other users from contacting you entirely. Guild cards are the same. Choice search is also still available.

The character creation is where you can get real creative. The new giant library for outfits is nice, while they added some new hair/hats for classes too.

The new classes are cool as well, I am most impressed with the HUcaseal and the FOmar, as they are stylish and both have a wide range of how you can make them look.

The graphical enhancements are beautiful, they re-sculpt a great game. The intro for DC for instance had to me what seems like a green/grey over cast on it... where as on GC it's clear and more detailed. You will defiantly notice the difference.
The hindrances in the game still exist though. There are some graphical errors still intact in the games playability. Being able to walk into a wall and see the next room. The only thing really done for up-ed over all graphics were the water effects. The color and textures were up-ed a bit also but it’s easily told that it comes that way with much effort just because it is on a more powerful system. The offline multiplayer adventure is very annoying as you really don’t have the same view. The view is very crunched together in the multi player, making it difficult to see things in certain situations. For example, the Dragon. when flying it is almost impossible to see you character. Then finding that the dreaded FSOD and, BSOD are still around. They become a major headache in some situations, as you can’t turn off and save, losing all your items in inventory. If you are new to the PSO series this is a great game for you. Most veterans on the other hand will find the game coming up short as it’s pretty much the same game, just better looking. All in all I would say this game is defiantly worth an 8 outta 10.
