As
expansion packs go, this is one of the better ones I have played
in a while. C&C: Generals was a good game, but it was missing
things here and there. Zero our fixed most all of those issues.
Here is a quote from the EA Games C&C: Generals website.

Take

for multiplayer mayhem with 25 new multiplayer maps!
As
you can see, they went all out. With the new generals, it
adds so much to the game-play with their special abilities,
general promotions, units, and taunt lines, it adds a whole
new personal aspect to the game. There are 3 generals of each
faction. USA gets Malcolm Ace Granger, the Air
Force specialist; Pinpoint Townes, the laser weapons
expert; and Alexis Alexander, the super-weapons specialist.
Global Liberation Army gets Dr. Thrax, the self-explanatory
toxin general; Prince Kassad, master of camoflage; and Rodall
Demo Juhziz, master of explosives. Finally, China
gets Ta Hun Kwai, tank extrodanaire; Tsing Shi Tao, commander
of nuclear supremacy; and Anvil Shin Fai, who
has awesome infantry units.
I
have been playing the new Generals Challenge Mode which is
explained in the EA excerpt above, and I am liking it a lot.
I am General Townes, and I am against te 6th general now.
They start with prefabricated bases, and hold the whole map,
and you have to fend off their attacks while building your
own strike force. It adds a lot of strategy and fun to the
game. Also, the new multiplayer maps are a plus, expanding
the fun of trying new terrain.
The
addition of all of the units helps a lot. Before the game
was sort of monotonous, with not too many units for U.S, only
one base defense per team, all of that has changed with new
structures (U.S.A. Firebase, Chinese Internet Center, Etc.),
units (like the Microwave Tank, Battle Bus, Etc) and general
promotions (Carpet bombers, GLA Surprise Attacks, Etc.) and
upgrades (Stealth Fighter Bunker Busters, Chinese Isotope
Stability, Etc). This just makes the game more well rounded,
interesting, and replayable.
The
last thing I will mention is the campaigns because I have
not done too much with them yet. The missions are much like
the original C&C: Generals ones, but with support from
the U.S. Navy now with its battle cruisers, aircraft carriers,
and destroyers, and other new features involving new units
to make the game more fun. The sound in this game incorporates
most of the old C&C: Generals music, but with a few additions.
The graphics remain very realistic, with the flames from a
particle cannon lingering on the fields, to the nuclear radiation
creeping across a base, to the pieces of ground flying in
the air from a bunker buster bomb. The replay value is very
high, this game is one of the ones that takes a very long
time to get old, unlike some games I have played.
I
enjoyed this game a whole lot. Overall, they did a sweet job
of improving C&C: Generals, and if you own it, I HIGHLY
recommend getting this expansion pack.
