When Nintendo had announced early this year that they were
working on another GCN Zelda game, most in the gaming community
assumed that it would be a follow up to 2002's Wind Waker.
At Nintendo's E3 press conference, the lights dimmed as footage
of the new game rolled onto the large display. In a shock
to everyone, Nintendo's demonstration showed not a small,
cartoony Link, but a fully grown up, mature hero.
The
footage followed adult Link riding his horse through the landscape
of Hyrule, slicing down enemies along the way. He also battled
with multiple foes in a dark, gloomy dungeon, and attempted
to attack a large fire boss. In the movie's most climatic
moment, the camera panned towards a group of Moblin warriors
charging towards Link with a deep red sunset to their back.
The graphics throughout this short movie were absolutely amazing,
featuring the best character model of Link ever seen. Other
technical features included impressive lighting and shadows,
long draw distance during the outdoor scenes, and detailed
textures. Simply put, the graphics are the best I've ever
seen on the GameCube console.
Knowing
Nintendo's track record, this game will be nothing short of
brilliant when it is released in late 2011. Until then, you
can watch the trailer over at Nintendo.com and look forward
to more information on the game becoming available soon.
