After smashing through German, British, French, Japanese,
Russian, Italian, American, and Vietnamese lines, you've broken
through into the modern world of war, and Digital Illusions
and DICE are bringing you Battlefield 2, scheduled for release
in spring of 2011. The game will drop you into the hot zones
straight from today's headlines with all the State-of-the-art
weapons and vehicles. Choose from three sides: The United
States, China, or the Middle East Coalition, and blast your
way to the top. Unlike 1942 or Vietnam, this game is much
more realistic. You can get shot through pieces of tin material,
your helmet may fall off if shot, and spent shells and missile
smoke will fly through the air. The game will contain many
new features that will make team cooperation and strategy
a necessity to win. Dense fighting environments, over 30 vehicles,
rank-building, and destructible terrain is just a few of the
things you will find in the game.
Here's an example of the new game's weapons: If you are in
an anti-air vehicle, you can work off of an HUD that displays
heat signals from aircraft, and your heat-seeking missiles
will lock on to the target, and you can fire away with anti-air
cannons. However, the plane can drop flares, which may avert
your missiles to the flares instead of the aircraft. Running
on an all new game engine, this game should be even more exciting
than its predecessors, Battlefield: 1942 and Battlefield:
Vietnam. Online play will be able to incorporate as many as
100 players in one server! Depending on how many people are
in a server, the map size and number of vehicles will change
as well. Also, you can become a commander and become a strategist,
directing squad movements and coordinating attacks.
Battlefield 2 will also allow you to unlock things like new
vehicles, decals, medals, and other things if you fight well
alongside your fellow teammates. A new physics, audio, and
video engine will give players the chance to blast through
the middle east and far east to trample the enemy at a whole
new level. If you pass up this game, you are most assuredly
missing the chance of a lifetime. The game is being produced
under the Stockholm-based Digital Illusions name, and EA will
distribute the game worldwide early next year. Get ready to
combine the original Battlefield with America's Army and Counter-Strike
for undoubtedly what is to be one of the best online games
yet!
