Heroes of the Pacific isnt just another WWII simulation.
While the developers are experts on World War II fighter planes,
they decided to stay away from the cookie cutter flight sim
games and do something a little different. "We set out
to build a really fun arcade dogfighting game," says
Ben Palmer of IR Gurus. What are the developers doing to make
sure that Heroes of the Pacific is something unique and will
grab peoples attention?
The
answer is simple - planes, and lots of them. It is possible
to see almost three hundred airplanes in massive dogfights
over the Pacific at once. The maps are massive, with realistic
clouds, water, and, of course, detailed enemy fighters. The
game can be controlled by both simulation and arcade flight
control throughout a course of 20-25 missions.
Story
wise, the plot is revealed through completing missions as
your character rises through the military ranks, and the story
may change with choices you make. Also, there will be some
RPGish upgrades to your airplane such as increased speed and
heavier weapons. As for multiplayer, expect full 16 player
online action for at least the Xbox and PC in game modes such
as team deathmatch and capture the flag. Another intriguing
option is co-operative gameplay, with one player being the
gunner in a larger plane.
Heroes
of the Pacific will be released sometime late this year.
