Although there have been no playable PSP games yet, Konami
was glad to show a video demo of Metal Gear Acid at its E3
booth. The demo was short in length, but did reveal some aspects
of the gameplay.
The
biggest assumption that can be drawn is that this game is
not an action adventure game like the other Metal Gear games.
Instead, it seems to be a turn-based strategy game with some
card battles also thrown in. The cards have pictures of Snake's
weapons on them, so they will be essentially used for offense.
Players must also move Snake around on a sort of gridlike
system and sneak past guards.
The
turn-based system kicks in when you max out Snake's abilities
during a turn and then wait for the enemy to make their moves.
During your turn, different actions such as moving, climbing,
and putting weapons into play have a certain cost associated
to them, limiting your movement per turn.
As
one can note from these screenshots, the graphics are very
impressive, especially for a handheld game. Expect to hear
more about Konami's Metal Gear Acid, including a release date,
as it becomes available.
