Last year brought forth The Legend of Zelda: The Four Swords,
a remake of Link to the Past for the SNES with a new multiplayer
Zelda, The Four Swords. But there lies the problem; it was
a remake. The Four Swords was a great game, but now with the
announcement for a remake of the original Zelda for GBA the
chance for a new solo-player Zelda game seemed slim. But E3
revealed a band new GBA Zelda game that looks awesome.
The company Capcom has developed The Legend of Zelda: The
Minish Cap and is displaying it at E3. The story involves
Link (as always) who is now accompanied by a hat with a talking
bird's head attached. The hat will give warnings and advice,
and has the power to shrink Link down to minuscule size. In
this smaller world, all of the landscape will be larger and
you will meet the Minish people, who will probably need Link
to help them in some way. Capcom has also introduced some
new items to the Zelda world, like a mushroom used to cross
ravines and a bottle to blow air to clear pathways. The game
will also focus less on dungeons and more on collecting kinstones.
When the pieces of a kinstone are put together, something
will happen. Either a treasure chest appearing, or an event
happening, but it will usually have some importance to moving
along the story.
Capcom and Nintendo have been vague on the details of Link's
overall mission, but we can assume that it will probably involve
Zelda getting kidnapped
again. There will also be some
more Four Sword game play. You can see a trailer from E3 for
the Minish Cap at www.nintendo.com.
