Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is one of those love it or hate it kind of games. Many people will swear that it is one of the best action/adventure games ever created, while others can't stand even looking at the game. No matter, the game had successful sales and so a sequel was planned. The tentively titled Prince of Persia 2 looks extremely promising.

Naturally, the Prince will return as the main role of the new game (why else would it be called Prince of Persia?). However, the new prince has a darker look to him and is a much more experienced fighter in the new game. His preference is to wield two swords at once this time around. The Prince will need everything he can muster to defeat the mighty Dahaka, who is seemingly tied to the fabric of fate itself. Dahaka appears to be stalking the Prince relentlessly and it is most likely tied to the fiasco involving the Sands of Time. Now, the Prince must go back in time and destroy the sands before Dahaka can kill him.

The Prince now has many new attacks and new acrobatic moves. His new attacks include jumping over the enemy, stealing his sword on the way, and using both of the blades to brutally destroy the enemy. In addition, the Prince can now pull off a lunging attack while wall running. In addition to all of the superhuman acrobatic abilities that the Prince had in the original, he can now shimmy across tapestries as well.

Some new time-based attacks were shown in the E3 presentation. The ones from the original were all present in the new game and they will be joined with some helpful new ones. The one that made the biggest appearance was one that involved draining all of the sands of time bars in order to speed things up and make it so that the whole screen went into a blur while the Prince moved around, and then only focused in long enough to show the Prince decapitating enemies. Smooth.

Prince of Persia 2 looks to be shaping into a worthy sequel and into a truly wonderful game. Action/Adventure fans should definately be looking to pick this one up when it arrives in stores at the end of the year.
