Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal Preview

Genre:
Action Platformer
Systems: PS2
Developer: Sony Computer Entertainment
Publisher: Insomniac Games
Release Date: November 2011

Insomniac Games is at it again. Expect more hours of sleep to be dedicated to playing their newest in the Ratchet and Clank franchise with Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal.

Following on their successful weapons upgrading scheme of Going Commando, R&C:UYA has… well… upped their arsenal. There will be 14 weapons that will be capable of four upgrades each. As they are upgraded, they become more powerful and have more features. For example, there will be a new weapon called the infecto ray. This ray will infect an enemy and cause the enemy to attack other enemies. When it is advanced into the infecto bomb, it will be capable of infecting multiple enemies
in a concentrated spot.

The graphics in the game are going to look even nicer than those of Going Commando. There will be more enemies on screen and more details added in the game. And this will all run at a solid framerate. The AI will also be tweaked and attack better than before.

The big news on this game (and news that I, personally, have hoped for) is that it will include multiplayer. Not only as an up to 4 player split screen, but also using the Network Adapter (Broadband only… sorry, dial-up gamers). Not only will the multiplayer feature the insane guns in the game (I have always wanted to turn a human opponent into a sheep… I hope a gun like the Sheepenator or the Morph-o-ray returns), but it will also include vehicles. These vehicles will allow two people to ride at a time, like Halo.

With more news sure to come later in E3, check back for more progress on Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal.
