I was never really sure about online role playing games such
as Wyvern or Everquest for some reason I could never really
get into them (for one thing I do not have broadband and it
makes it hard to get into anything online). But as soon as
I saw World of Warcraft my perspective changed dramatically.
The
game allows the creation of a character from a variety of
races that were seen in the Warcraft series; Night Elves,
Humans, Orcs, Taurens and Dwarves and also the type of character
whether a warrior or druid and many others. This is pretty
standard for an online game and may not really excite most
people but what will really bring in the players is the diversity
of the game. The whole of the world Azeroth will be available
for players to band up with some friends and begin the quests
throughout the game.
One
of the effects that make this game truly stand out is the
graphics. Most RPG's that are out now such as Everquest and
other titles, while having very good game play mostly lack
in the way of good graphics. This is where WoW comes in. With
streamlined animation, high-resolution and a high number of
polygons on individual characters it will set the standard
for Role-playing games.
Much
like Everquest, thousands of players can play at any one time
to battle player vs. player or to be out completing quests.
The number and the range of quests available for a player
is astounding with many more being added to keep the game
fresh.
Also featured are many different types of terrain from deserts
to forests all depending on where you are in the game.
This game follows the same usual setup of RPG's with quests,
individual items that can be found and even what is just been
announced on the game are mounts. These include horses, wolves
and panthers. These will be available to a player when they
reach a certain level. It is still in Beta stage with many
people being lucky enough to play it so we will not be expecting
it for a while.
With
over six capital cities, eight different races, nine different
classes of warriors, this massive online multiplayer game
is sure to entertain many Warcraft fans and bring many others
to the RPG family.
