Grand Theft Auto 3 Review

First and foremost, I have to warn readers about Grand Theft Auto's EXTREME Violence, language, and illegal acts. EVERYTHING that you do in this game is illegal and violent, if you are not a fan of mature games then GTA3 is NOT for you.

In my opinion, Grand Theft Auto 3 is one of the most fun games I have ever played. The game is so huge, fun and downright cool that you lose track of time. There is so much to do, steal, and blow up that something new is always bound to happen.

The object of GTA3 is to compete a series of missions that involves assassinating leaders of gangs, mob, etc.; or stealing cars, delivering "packages" and much more.

The most fun part of GTA3 is roaming the cities looking for something illegal to do. When you commit a crime, you acquire a star in the corner of your screen. The more stars you have, the more your wanted by the police.... the helicopters.... the FBI.... and yes, the Army. If you are truly bad and receive 6 stars, tanks roam the street searching for you. And trust me, it isn't exactly easy to get away from one of these things. Sure, you can take one down with your rocket launcher, but then the next one pulls up and, with the quick burst of an M-16, you're dead.

Luckily, there are lots of nifty codes to keep you happy wandering through the streets with no hassle from the cops, such as infinite health and ammo. My favorite code lets civilians carry weapons of their own and chase you down the street trying to beat you up. While cheating is usually a "dishonest" way to win a game, the cheats here just make the game more fun. And seriously, what is the point of a videogame if not to be fun?

Over all, this is probably one of the most fun, exiting, challenging games on the PS2. The ability to run freely through the streets doing whatever you desire is truly the highlight of GTA3. It is the kind of game where, sure, you can run the missions, but half the fun is the chaos that ensues from just running wild.
