Dead Or Alive 3 Review

If someone wants to brag about their Xbox, they usually show off Dead or Alive 3. Its graphics are the most absolute best I've ever seen on any fighting game ever before, make that any game ever. The moves are extremely fluid and real looking, the characters faces look perfect, and the surroundings are impacted as the characters touch them. It's a gamer's dream to own a game that's as beautiful as Dead or Alive 3.

The Dead or Alive franchise started on Playstation, and the 2nd installment was one of the first games out on Playstation 2. Obviously bribed by Microsoft, Tecmo decided to jump ship and bring the series exclusively to the Xbox. Dead or Alive 2 was a pretty good looking game on PS2, but Tecmo has stunned everyone by showing just how good they can make a game look.

The control is fairly easy to use, and it takes no time to learn. Y is punch, B is kick, X is block, A is a special move, and the White Button is a powerful punch move. Add a direction with the D-Pad and they do a different variety of the move. Thats one thing I didn't like about this game, it requires you to use the D-Pad. I'd much rather use the control stick although the D-Pad does fit this game better.

The gameplay is nothing special, it's a typical fighting game. There is a short story mode that you can beat with 16 different players to get another one from DOA2. Also, another great part of the story mode are the cutscenes you unlock after you beat it with someone. They show what the person you played with does after they win all the money from the DOA contest, plus the graphics in them are awesome. However, fighting games aren't made for their one player, they excel in multiplayer and DOA3 lacks none of it. There's everything, tag battles, one on one, survival, and team battles. You can also play all of these by yourself against the computer. So don't assume you always have to have one of your buddies to get the maximum play out of the game.

So, if you like fighting games, definetely get his one, it's easily the best on Xbox. However, if you don't want to buy it but you still want to play the game, rent it a couple times. Since you can save your game on the hard drive it doesn't matter if you get different copies from Blockbuster or wherever you rent. That way you can beat it on story mode with all the characters, and you can have a friend over a play a bunch of the different multiplayer battles.
